GOAL
The goal of our program is for each child to interact at his own level, in a discovery-play learning environment. Our curriculum is designed so that the children will develop physically, socially, emotionally and intellectually.
- PHYSICALLY -They will increase their strength and endurance and improve their co-ordination. We have a wonderful gym and lots of good quality equipment.
- SOCIALLY - We encourage group participation, friendships, taking turns, sharing, respect for each other and the use of a lot of language.
- EMOTIONALLY - We encourage and value great self-concepts & individuality. Again we teach the use of language to express any feelings of the moment.
- INTELLECTUALLY - We encourage listening and following directions, carrying a project through to completion, as well as problem solving by using language and asking a lot of questions. We have a great variety of basic toys, puzzles, construction sets, science & drama equipment, art & music
CURRICULUM & PHILOSOPHY
Our curriculum is based on the children being involved as opposed to being spectators. We do this through our centers and unit themes. We emphasize inquiry, discovery and problem solving. We are structured yet flexible and it is based on the characteristics, interests, needs and age of the children in our program. The curriculum includes everything that happens to a child once he enters our room. We believe in creating a positive environment for each child. We believe in encompassing the love and acceptance of each child from their home environments to the preschool with the result that each child feels a sense of belonging and security.
We nurture problem-solving, decision-making skills, coping skills, self-reliance, self-discipline, self-responsibility and a sense of right and wrong. We provide stability in consistency of rules and routine. Our curriculum includes social interaction with peers, learning through hands-on experiences and providing a structured environment that guides, informs and enables the children to question what’s happening. We celebrate learning at every opportunity. We believe and encourage the ideology that the teachers, children and parents work as a team to explore, interact and discover. Our classroom and environment is set up to be a teacher in itself.
